Bodegas Baigorri was founded in 2002 with the objective of becoming a point of reference in Rioja Alavesa and is perfectly adapted to welcome the visitor and to house the most complex wine making processes. The winery project was dreamt up by the architect Iñaki Aspiazu and stands out for the integration of the winery with the landscape and vineyards. Pedro Martinez who is the owner and Director of the winery has been responsible for the high positioning of the winery and has done this by prioritising the high quality of the wines and by carrying out various research, development and innovative projects.
The Wine Maker, Simón Arina, meticulously looks after the vineyards that produce the grapes for their wines. Before the wine harvest starts he classifies each plot for each wine according to the organoleptic qualities of the grapes.
Bodegas Baigorri is located in the village of Samaniego in Rioja Alavesa, and is surrounded by a spectacular sea of vineyards. From the inside you can see the different levels within the winery for grape selection, fermentation in the vats, pressing and finally the ageing in the climate controlled barrel cellar.
Bodegas Baigorri makes top quality wines and bases it values on excellence and ecological practices which it applies throughout every stage of wine making. The winery´s highest priority is to make top quality wines. Bodegas Baigorri uses excellent quality grapes and avoids using pumps which can damage the grapes. This ensures that the grapes arrive in perfect condition for the fermentation.
