Bodegas Viñadores Artesanos
Bodegas Viñadores Artesanos is a family run winery with a long history of wine making and growing vines. It was founded in 1984 by Simeon Martinez and Javier Diez when they bought an ancient winery dating from the XVII century and started to make wines there, using grapes from their own vineyards. Nowadays the vine farmer Javier Martinez, who is Simeon´s son runs the winery and is carrying on the family tradition.
Bodegas Viñadores Artesanos makes its Rioja wines from its own vineyards of which 90% are Tempranillo and 10% are Viura in Elciego in Rioja Alavesa. The fact that they own their own vineyard enables them to have healthy grapes. A lot of time is spent looking after the grapes in the vineyard and a thorough selection process guarantee top quality Rioja wines which respect the environment.
The family run winery is located in Elciego in Rioja Alavesa. The ancient stone winery dates back to the XVII century and is where the wines are made. In the new building the wines are aged and stored.
Bodegas Viñadores Artesanos keeps the family tradition alive by making its Young wines using the traditional Carbonic Maceration method but also make their new modern Rioja wines under the brand names of Heredad de Ustarán and Barón de Laas. Due to the success of their Carbonic Maceration wines the winery started to make aged wines from the 80´s onwards.
